I'll keep this one quick as in if you don't have much good to say, you shouldn't say anything - but I've been a fan of some of Boaks' creations (Monster Mash, Two Blind Monks) and was surprised that this left a lot to be desired.
Without getting too specific, the flavor was somewhere between a real wooden beanie(?) and a mouthful of pennies. It was quite acidic going down with a metallic aftertaste...not quite what i expected when thinking about jack daniels and vanilla - both of which i got none of.
I'll stay away from this one....

Sampled this in a flight at the Mohawk House in Sparta, NJ. Poured dark brown, with low visible carbonation, and one finger of beige head that retained and laced ok. The aroma: apple, pear, oak, caramel, vanilla, with a slight hint of cherry. The taste: sweet caramel/vanilla, with only a slight hint of oak and alcohol on the finish. Thin, yet smooth. This is a beer that is surprisingly sessionable.

Had this on cask. It poured a medium brown with ruby highlights. There was really no head at all, and as suggested by the serving style hardly any carbonation.
Smells of vanilla barrel, molasses, caramel and dark fruits.
This beer is a pretty mellow interpretation of a wood aged beer. Thats why I found this one apealing. Many beers that are oak aged are very strong but this beer was almost sessionable. I could drink a few of these.
It was medium bodied, with figs, raisins, caramelly malts and a little cacoa. The woodiness was instantly noticable but not too strong and obvious. A mellow vanilla bourbon with some tannins in the finish.
This was a pretty fun beer but I'm not sure if it's a permanent addition.

on tap in tulip glass at devils den in philly
Pours a cloudy chestnut brown with a thin film of head retained on top. Eventually fades out without any lacing.
Whiskey was heavy in the nose along with oak, vanilla, leather, dried fruit, and smoke.
Some boozy warmth up front with oakyness. Vanilla and sweet tannins kick in, eventually giving way to dark candied fruit with dates and figs. Light flairs of smokiness and booze are intermittent. Finishes very sweet with some alcohol warmth.
Thin body for the style, very light carbonation, a little dry and chewy. Fair drinking but too sweet and thin. Not a great representation of barrel aged brew.
