Atmosphere:
Very unique, it is located in a small old local farmhouse that has been renovated into a restuarant. The trailer located on the right as you come down the drive is a nice country touch, haha. The dinning areas are located on the right and left wings as well as upstairs. There is a bar that is located in front of the kitchen at the rear of the house. I would prefer a darker hughe in the hardwood and maybe a more rustic look would complement this type of restuarant but thats my opinion doesnt really matter I guess. This is defenatly not a t shirt shorts restuarant. I would also recomend reservations.
Quality:
Def deserves a 5 all beer served was within freshness date and tasted like it. The food looked, and tasted great.
Service:
Waiters were very friendly, and there was someone devoted to clearing used tableware and filling water glasses(love that since I drink tons of water. With that being said the waitress told us that she didnt know much if anything about the extensive beer selection. This was slightly disturbing considering thats what Tim Schafer's is apparently all about.
Selection:
4.5 because its not the best ive ever seen but its def the best for any restuarant in the area hands down. Lots of Belgiums, and a decent amount of NC brews(could be more). Some macros. There was a special Beer/Wine menue that came with descriptions and food pairings. I had a Unibroue Blanche de Chambly, another lack luster belgium amber that I cant remeber the name of, and a Rochefort Trappist 8.
Food:
I would classify the food as Americanized French cuisine, steaks, pork chops, duck, Creole. They apparently rotate the menu frequently. Everything was top notch and the portions were very generous! I had a Filet Mignon with a mushroom stout glaze and my girlfriend had the stuff pork chops with a bourbon stout glaze. All entrées were served with a starch and vegetables. Bread was also brought to the table.
Overall I would def dine here again but the prices makes it a once in a while place. My entree was $30 alone. This is the only place to find beer enhanced meals in the area that I know of. Give it a try you wont be sorry.
