reasonably clear, after some settling, orange amber color. Lots of visible carbonation. A very nice one inch white head graced the top of the glass.

citrus and sugar hop bomb. Overwhelming smell of orange and tangerine overpowered just about everything else. A slight hint of sugar could be detected a well, Bigtime grapefruit and orange peel were so pronounced I could just sit there and smile. A touch of sweetness rounded out the initial feel with a dry bitter finish

22oz bomber poured into my pint glass

Pours a very dark copper color, almost want to say murky brown(very dark for an IPA) with a three inch very frothy head. Head is off-white color with great head retention and lacing scattered all over the sides of my glass.

Huge amounts of purple grapes come into the nose(wtf?)with hints of hops and toffee/bread like malts.

Slight hint of citrus flavors upfront but quickly the malts come in and pretty much dominate the hops. Gives me an idea its past its prime. Some bitterness shows up at the end.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high carbonation.

The pour is a rather dark, hazy, reddish/amber and has lots of black floaties in suspension (I wonder what they are, no one else mentions having them). The head is a nice, 2-finger, fluffy, off-white with good retention and decent lacing.
The smell is both sweet malt and citrusy hops.
The taste is very malty & sweet at first then succombs to a good dose of bitterness and finishes with some fruity and floral hops. The bitterness does linger afterwards.
Mouthfeel is medium and ends a bit on the dry side.
I think it's a very drinkable IPA. It's very well balanced in that nothing really takes over other than the bitterness that lingers. Certainly no West Coast IPA and if that's what you're looking for, this isn't it. This would be a nice one to have a couple of on draft with a friend.

22 from Wegman's. Saw something new so gave it a whirl.

Poured a light brown with some red to it. meh head that faded quick, but left nice lacing.

Herbally earthy hop smell with some medium brown malts. nothing impressive.

Medium large hop taste to it with equal bitterness. An East Coast IPA for sure. not much citrus but more earthy herbal bitterness, and a good amount of it. You can taste the medium malts, not sweet, but reminiscent of a brown ale. a bit of toffee.

good mouthfeel. bit oily, but like good ipa.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle on 11/12/09

A - Pours a murky brown with an inch of solid off white foam

S - slightly citrus and floral hop aroma

T - bitterness up front, piney hops dominate the caramel malt base

M/D - out of the bottle I don't really like this one much. But I remember having it at the brewery and really liking it alot. I'll definitely be giving this one another chance and will stop by for another growler as well.

Thanks to Barleydine for the trade!

From bomber to pint glass: very carbonated, pours with 3 fingers of glistening, pillowy head. Translucent, darkish amber with honey highlights. Head falls to 1 finger, leaving viny lacing.

Smell is strongly sweet & sugary, with citric, woody hop presence. Some bite from pepper, orange zest. Interesting & complex but sweeter than I prefer. Almost has a spicy, saison quality. As it warms a further sweetness develops, like buttercream icing (?!).

Taste starts sweet & biscuity, like shortbread, turns bitter like orange zest, a little tea-like, slight orange flavor. Bitterness sticks in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel has some bite & tingle, but is thick & full-bodied for an IPA, not crisp. A little sugary stickiness.

Drinkability is not bad, & I enjoyed it further into the bottle (drank the whole bomber), but a little on the heavy side. Lots of sediment bits at the end. Not my favorite IPA by a good bit, but some very interesting surprises.

22oz bomber poured into a tulip.

Pours a dark cloudy amber with a thin off white head. Has a sweet and slightly yeasty nose.

Taste is quite bitter with a light smooth maltiness. Very drinkable with some sweet citrus notes. But it's really not very hoppy for an IPA, still good though.

On tap at the brewery. A fine IPA, with lots of lace. Phoenix, Nugget and Pilgram hops. Some fruitiness, citrus. Drying but 44 IBU English style is appreciated. The clear winner here. They are tweaking it for hopheads and therefore sales, however I would get a hold of this while you can. Good drinkability.

Pours a dark cloudy amber/copper color with light golden orange hues and visible carbonation bubbling up and a one finger yellowish beige head with good retention that leaves sporadic rings of lacing.

Floral hoppy aroma with a caramel malt backbone and some dry piny and citrus notes.

Slightly dry with subtle pine and citrusy lemon peel and grapefruit balanced by a caramel malt backbone that is slightly sweet. Dry finish.

Appears a dark amber with an orange hue when held to the light. A thick, 2 finger, off-white head slowly fades out into a fluffy cap. Spotty bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of citrus, herbal, floral hops with some caramel and fresh cracked malted grain coming through.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with more of an herbal, tea, & citrus hop flavor pulling out on top of the malty, caramel grain.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with heavy carbonation and a decent balance.

Just received this brew from the oh-so-generous Gibby. It might have leaked just a hair upon shipping but I think the beer is still good-to-go. Drank from my Stone India Pale Ale flute.

Appearance- Pours a chill hazed slightly darker orange with a hugely creamy dirty tan head that damn near approaches three fingers. A hugely thick cap and collar remain along with enough sticky lacing for two brews. Apparently the minor leakage didn't effect the carbonation.
Smell- Slightly fruity with a kumquat like earthy smell that is just ever so slightly bitter. The malt is probably stronger than the hops in the nose as it contains some caramel and licorice. Not a trace of alcohol cold but as it warms it gets deceivingly strong for only 7%. Not an overly strong or complicated nose but its solid.
Taste- Starts with a blast of grapefruit bitterness before a warm melting maltiness kicks in. It's full of toffee and butterscotch and has that overly strong crystal maltiness. I don't particularly care for that flavor in my IPA's but this ain't bad. The wave of maltiness does hit hard but the beer never really leaves bitter. It lingers well into the finish also.
Mouthfeel- Medium to heavy body with a fairly crisp bite of carbonation.
Drinkability- Overall not too shabby. The super caramel crystal is a bit much but what can ya do? I'm just totally spoiled by those damned fruity west coasters and Furious. Thanks much for your generosity Jeff!

Serving from a 22oz bomber (from Wegmans in Wlliamsport, PA)

A: Hazy amber/copper. Small head that dissipated quickly

S: Restrained more on the malty side

T: A nice spicy hop kick with a strong malty backbone. Like the balance.

M: Like the play between the hop-s and the malt, works for me.

D: Very drinkable and smooth IPA. Not an in your face hop bomb (for the record I'm a hophead) but a well balanced beer. Will definetely seek again

Poured from a bomber into an imperial pint glass.

A hazy reddish orange with a huge amount of head and very decent lacing.

Smell is molasses, caramel, brown sugar, and candied yams.

taste off the bat is sweet and candy like. Caramel brown sugar and a touch of alcohol. It finishes with a good amount of bitterness to balnce it all out.

Average mouthfeel. A bit oily on the tongue with a bitter finish.

This is an ok IPA. Drinkable but there is much better beer out there to be consumed. A decent attempt though by BB.

A bomber purchased at the Williamsport Wegmans.

A: The IPA is a deep orange color, so dark that it looks like the brown amber bottle it was poured from. The full caramel color obscures the other side of the glass. Two plus fingers of head on pour left ring around the glass.

S: Darker malts (as compared to Hammerin' Ale) left a fuller bready aroma, darker with more chocolate. Hops are also stronger, with more citrus spice floating around.

T: The ale is malt-centric, almost like an English IPA. The caramel malts are darker, more roasted with a fuller finish. The bigger malts are necessary to match the hops. Grassy citrus hops are evident but not dominant, a nice pairing against the full malts. Spicy hops define the finish, the fullest appearance that they offer up.

M: The mouthfeel is focused on malts and spicy hops, both make lasting impressions during their moments in the sun. A nice sipper.

D: Another nice brew of Bavarian Barbarian, one that exceeds my memory of it from a growler. Nice to see these bombers popping up.

poured into a pint glass off draft

this beer gives a nice mostly red look with a cloudy appreance

the smell is malty with some hops showing through lightly roasted grain and a hint of fresh hops

a fairly nice balance of roasted flavor in an almost red style beer direction. the hops are balanced 100% this is not a cascade hop bomb and i would put this probably in a belgian or english version of the ipa not the american its listed as

the mouthfeel is good...sweet with none of the american ipa pucker or punch...a solid full beer with sweet malt, bitter hops, full taste no watering down and not to think either

this beer can be drank again and again and is really a very nice overall a true fine example of a great brew

M- Very sweet, tangy, with a creamy malt finish.

Overall- Decent English style IPA worth a try but nothing fantastic.

On tap at the tasting room.

Pours a clear, coppery amber with a frothy white head and a bit of lacing.

Mostly malty in the nose with some modest earthy hops as well.

Taste is similar. Lots of caramel maltiness in the front, with a balancing earthy hop presence throughout. Hops take over in the finish.

Medium bodied and a bit dry, this is a very nicely drinkable IPA. More of an English style IPA than a hop bomb, this is not my favorite type of IPA generally, but this one is well executed.

On tap at the Bavarian Barbarian brewery.

Poured a medium copper/amber color with a huge sized off white head. Aromas of pine, citrus, somewhat floral, and caramel. Tastes of citrus, pine, and caramel. I like my IPAs to be a little more bitter in the finish.
