Sampled at the brewery, this is another very fine Eipeltauer product. Comes out an ever so slightly cloudy purplish copper brown hue under a two finger bubbly off-white head that towers over the top of the glass before slowly fading, leaving sheets of lace only broken by a few bubble holes. The nose is intriguing, starting very strong while the head is fresh, then fading to almost nothing, only to return with a vengeance as the beer warms. The predominant smell sensation is plum, but floral hops are not too far behind. The mouth is quite well-carbonated, almost prickly and slightly sticky without being cloying. The taste is sublime - sweet fruity malt backed by mild juicy bitter hops, which linger and strengthen after the swallow. Brewer Chris insists that this is an English, but I think it is too sweet and too carbonated for that style. Nevertheless, it is a delicious brew.
