This beer is a recreaction of a bokbier from Amersfoort from the former Phoenix brewery.
A pitch black beer with a thin head, that leaves nice lacing on the glass.
Smell is light roasted with weak coffee notes. A clean yeast profile. Some vegetable whiffs.
Taste is roasted and spot on. No burned notes, but a coffee, espresso roast and dark chocolate. Nice and balanced. Bitterness is mostly maltbitterness, although the hops are there too. An above avarage bitterness for a bokbier. The yeast gives a clean profile. Unlike most other Dutch bokbiers, this one is not overly sweet and sticky. It is not dry, but drinkability is good.
