i like this better than the original social hour, which i found over the top sweet and not really very wit-like at all. this one is more familiar, orange and coriander and enough wheat coming through, still without that yeast element that i look for in the style, but this does sort of hit like a lighter blue moon, its drier which helps, lower alcohol too which feels like a good call, and this one definitely isnt over flavored. simple beer really, and thats a good thing here, basic pale wheat malt at the core of it, off dry and with some structure, near neutral to my senses on the yeast, but that leaves a lot of room for the orange, which is juicy and real to me, summery without being too sweet, works super well with the wheat, timeless really, and it seems like some coriander too, toasted and grounding, also nice with the wheat, and there is just a little acidity to the orange which lightens it in the back end, some oily linger but it makes it feel fresh, trace nuttiness here, modest residual sugar, lighter carbonation than i want but still some capacity for refreshment. i like a wheat beer being wheaty, and this one definitely is, the orange works predictably well, and while it doesnt have a fermentation profile like it should, its solid anyway. vastly better than the original social hour with all the tropical fruit.
