Cask pour into a tulip, the beer is a hazy, copper-brown coloring with a tall, frothy, clingy, cream colored head. Nose of smoke and char, with a hint of the fruity IPA characteristics normally found in the Cant Dog. Flavors are initially sweet, with a caramel and bourbon blend, followed by a heavy char and smoke. Very heavy on the barrel characteristics. The aftertaste is smoke filled, with a hint of hoppiness. This shifts the characteristics of the beer from a DIPA to a barrel-aged strong ale for me. Smooth, slightly filmy finish. Interesting brew.
