It's very smokey. That's the first thing that I think of when I think of Oktoberfest. Good weissbier is the second. Gluttonous food is the third - it's very greasy. And I'll never forget being served German beer by Korean women in lederhosen.
I had two beers at Oktoberfest - the Dunkelweiss and the weissbier. The dunkel was good, but not true to the style. It had a dry tartness to it that wasn't bad, but was not what I was looking for (I was looking for a dunkelweiss).
The weissbier, however, was true to the style and very tasty. Not my favorite weissbier every, but worth the visit. However, be prepared to walk out of Oktoberfest wreaking of smoke and, if you eat, full of fat and cholesterol.

very lively pseudo beer garden atmosphere with a big brass mashtun as the centerpiece at the bar and lots of tables. i was there on a monday at about 10 and it was packed w. locals drinking beer (almost exclusively pilseners and weizens) and eating korean inspired german food. i.e. sausages with kimchee and wasabi mustard. they had 4 beers on tap a pils a weizen a radler and a dunkel all of which are quite good and served in correct glassware but served a little cold even for those styles. the portions are large and the prices are ridiculously reasonable.
this place is really easy to find near gagnam station and definitely worth a visit as part of the more international/cosmopolitan korean experience. i know a million places in the us where i can get really good and authentic korean food but zero places where i can get korean inspired german food. awesome.

A friend of mine who used to live in Gangnam introduced me to this little gem hidden in one of the alleys behind the station. It is not very difficult to get to which is nice and once you do get there you are welcomed into a nice warm atmosphere that is just a bit reminiscent of a small beer-hall a la Munich.
The beers were quite good, with a fine Weiss and Pilsner, but easily the best beer there was the Dunkel, which to my mind tasted more like a porter. It was rich and smooth with roasty notes of coffee and chocolate. All the beer was presented in proper glassware and it was served at appropriate temperatures. The unfortunate thing about this place as far as selection goes, and this can be said of any Korean brewpub, is that the selection is limited to 3 or 4 beers. Luckily the beers Oktoberfest serves were very good.
The food was good too. Think traditional German with a flair for Korean i.e. assorted sausages with roasted kimchi. I was impressed. All in all a place worth seeking out.
