Can, ABV 4.9%, RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Pale golden colour, low head. Sickly aroma of over-boiled vegetables and wet cardboard, some sweetish maize notes. Boring pale lager flavour, some sweetish maize notes.

This is the first Cuban beer that I had and the third from the Caribbean after Red Stripe and Carib. Although Red Stripe is an unbeatable legendary classic, Cuba feels somehow exotic for being still a communist state with the memories of Castro and the Che.
Though green bottles seem to be bad and make the beer skunky, I somehow like them nevertheless, for being nostalgic of the good old days. The bottle was nice here too, the beer being pale straw color, not much to smell but tastes quite clear and refreshing. Only there is a slight filminess remaining but it doesn't bother me at all. As thin and watery as it might be, it does the job - to be a nice and refreshing lager in the hot Caribbean. Do we need anything more?

clear golden color
balanced, light smell
malty taste with some hoppy bitters, in general lacking taste (watery)
carbonisation a bit too strong for this kind of "water"
= 2/5

From Corte Ingles El Duque. In Teku glass. Playing Huntmans The Winter's Curse. Bottled on 7 Feb 2016. Typical pale lager, maybe a bit more malty than usual. Clean, with no odd flavors and not disgusting

From the bottle, exported to Germany and purchased there. Pours a golden yellow with a modest head, reducing soon to a thin ring. The nose notes the cereal grains. Relatively clean taste, easy to get down. Drinkable. Probably best on a hot day in the tropics.
