Pours a slightly toasted straw color with a big pillowy pure white head that settled into a solid cap. Spot on for the style.
The aroma has an overall grassy scent. Cracker like malt mixes with a grassy hop aroma. Some sulfur notes which are a bit too strong for my liking. Was expecting a small amount of fruitiness from the ale yeast but didn't pick up anything. Borders on the Euro mass produced lager aroma.
The taste is dry and grassy. The pilsner malt is cracker like and the grassy hops adds to the dry feel of the beer. There is some of the fruitiness from the ale yeast. Its a tad grainy and does have some sulfur notes.
The feel is light to moderate with some prickly carbonation. Quite clean on the palate, drinks crisp. Perhaps could use a touch more hoppy bitterness in the finish.
An average Kolsch, has too much of a lager taste and character
