The Baltic Fleet / Wapping Beers Ltd. "Summer Ale"
cask via handpump at the pub on 3 May 2015
Notes: Looks a lot like their Spring Ale: hazy golden body somewhat like a hefeweizen beneath a short cap of white foam. Very good head retention and lacing. Aroma: softly floral/citrus/tropical hops over mild malt. Flavor: golden malt threaded through with mild tropical/citrusy hops. Moderate balancing bitterness - "firm". Light-medium in body and gently crisp.

Bronze golden colr, with just a veil of foam.
Malty smell, with a touch of biscuit, then a lot of grassy hop, bitter.
The bitterness is again stronger in the taste.
Relatively light body, and so, maybe, a bit unbalanced, but still interesting.
Grassy hop aftertaste, long, maybe even a bit too long. Tea notes.

Purchased at the Baltic Fleet, the only but truly great brewpub in Liverpool. Bottle-conditioned in a 500ml brown bottle, bottled in July 07 and BBE 30(?)/02/08; served cool in a straight imperial glass.
A: slightly murky, pale golden in colour, coming with a pillowy off-white head, on top of sporadic carbonation that sees very fine bubbles ascending from the bottom.
S: pineapple-ish, musty, and slightly woody hints of yeast sediments come on top of honey-ish malts, with sweet bitter-lemon and a sharp spicy edge of hops that dissipates greatly as the beer warms up. Overall, just like two other Wapping beers that I picked up on the same visit, this bottle shows quite astringent yeastiness overall.
T: a stinky edge of hops makes a big entrance, but with a sound backbone of pale malts and leads fast to a rather chewy, soothing flow of hop bitter finish... the yeast-sediment's old woody, damp/musty flavours sustains but not OTT, while the zesty citrusness and mildly grainy malts linger in the aftertaste.
M&D: the fizziness is lively and refreshing but never too much, showing very successful bottle-conditioning attempts by this microbrewery. Overall, this is a light-bodied, dry-ish Blonde Bitter, and indeed more balanced than the other two purchased from the same visit.
