While I rated this perfect, it must be taken with a grain of salt - never have I tasted a chili stout before. This was the first time and to my tastes, it was done perfectly.
This was a limited run. Tamarack does specialty beers in smaller batches. This was one such batch.
This was a nice, hearty, sweet stout. At first taste everything seemed like a stout should but as it finished, the chilies made themselves known. I am a medium hot person when it comes to food, and this was just perfect - the chilies were not overwhelming throughout the entire pint of beer.
Naturally, the name evokes mole chili sauce. Like mole poblano, the beer has hints of chocolate and chili. Fortunately, the brewers balanced the flavors well. Like the sauce the beer paired well with meat.
Here's to hoping the brewers try this batch again!

Poured from my growler,
Appearance- Dark brown almost black with a 1" head that slowly fades.
Aroma-Heavy chocolate tones up front followed by malt and chile peppers.
Taste-First a nice sweet smooth chocolate flavor coats your mouth, then as you swallow you feel the peppers that were brewed and it presents a nice tingle in the back of your throat, there is a little alcohol taste in it but the peppers really balance that out. Some may say it's too spicy but I loved the burn of the peppers. It feels like a good heavy as you drink your own growler.
Overall a good brew probably a limited time, I thought they have done well with adding a variety at the brewery. Can't wait for their Chai Porter
