Beer No. 1 is Cherry Tart: a brown ale brewed with six different specialty malts, soured in the mash and aged on tart cherries post fermentation creating this layered sour that’s hard to brew and easy to crush.

On tap at Boise brewery. Definitely sour, wouldn’t be surprised if they used sour cherries. Dark Ruby pour, sour winelike aroma, cherries in the taste somewhere, but mostly dominated by the yeast.

Another Red House special...Vinegar on the nose & tongue...Think the bottle is skunked.

Apparently some bottles were infected. I had it twice and once it was excellent, in the 4 territory, and once it was a drain pour. I'll rate as the brewer intended it but, ultimately, 10 Barrel needs to work out carbonation / infection issues.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a tulip.
Appearance: rich amber hue with minimal haze and a light effervescence. Head pours a thick finger of frothy ivory foam with OK retention. Not too bad!
Smell: nice and fruity up front, with a light but enjoyable sour character. There's a very strong honey aroma here, too, which really works for me. Kind of lends it a bit of a syrupy quality. I like it.
Taste: cherry, honey and a light tartness. It's not quite as sweet as I'd expect it to be with the level of fruit and honey character that's present. I rather like it (though I'm a sucker for cherry beers).
Mouthfeel: medium body with a light carbonation and a decent texture. Not exactly creamy, but nice enough.
Overall: I really like this beer. It's simple, but pretty well crafted and well-suited to my palate.

22 oz bomber bought from Fred Meyer in S.Salem $4.49 Darker garnet accented brown beer with a nice sized frothy thick light tan head. Aroma of ripened berries and a touch of acetic acid. very vinegary like taste. Even verging on malt vinegar, maybe a little malt in the back .Not a very fruity example. The mouth feel is thin and very drying of course. I guess I can handle this but not a favorite!
