Oh how we love this time of year. Hop harvest time! We got some hops so fresh they should be illegal! Thanks to our friends at Gooding Farms in Wilder for sharing their Chinook hops this year!

on cask at the brewery right now, and brilliant in that format, not enough wet hop beers on the engine in this day and age, so i was stoked to see this. i believe its all or mostly mosaic this year, a fine hop for a beer like this, which is simple and basic on the grain side, a touch sweet and medium bodied, but fermented clean and with the hops just sort of occupying all the other space in aroma and flavor. i think the mosaic is quite easily identified here, the nose is cat pee, manly deodorant, and fresh pineapple, its essence, and oily and skunky a little bit too, some lemon there, and very little apparent bitterness. there is a weedy zing to this, as a lot of the wet hopped beers have seem to have had this season, an oily, dank linger on each sip, regardless of varietal or malts or whatever, just wet hopped glory. some cool orange notes to this as it warms, honey too, and finally a sticky richness with the malt balance coming back. a really good beer overall, nice and smooth on the cask dispense, but still has life to it. a little green in a good way there, and a beer i could make an afternoon of. really nice with their house chili at the boise location. i get excited to go here every time its in the plans, and i leave happy always, they really make some nice beers here!

Taster at brewpub. 2017 version with Cascade. Medium golden, light haze, small ring of head, streaky lacing. Big floral hops, handsoap. Taste too is bitter and astringent, jujubes. Mildly sticky, stays around for a while.

Draft at the brewery tonight... Clear light orange with a nice sudsy white head.... Nose is catty and abrasive... Flavor has the same abrupt hoppiness that translates into and expands on the already sharp bitterness.. Interesting, but doesn't have the hop flavor that I really want in an IPA. Pretty good, just not for me.
