Some people work their way up to the black diamond runs on the mountain, some people just go for it! 10 Barrel brewed this double black ale to have just enough roastiness and a hint of black licorice. Dropping!

Had this beer at the 2013 HAF in Portland. Not a fan of licorice so this beer didn't get very high marks. Other than that, it was decent. 30 IBUs

Draft at the Boise pub... Pours the standard thick, but not motor-oil thick, black brew... Nose has more black malt with light char thank cocoa.. no real malty sweetness... the licorice is light but adds a "perceived sweetness".... Flavor is a pretty good and there is a bit more sweetness that magnifies the brewers licorice too much for my liking. Good body and drinkability, but I just don't appreciate black licorice the way the brewers hoped for with this one.
