i thought this was pretty solid, like so much of the beer in here is, its a hoppy red, both robustly bitter and also still rather malt driven, fermented to mostly dry but with a lot of heart grain in it as well. while i am enjoying it, i keep thinking about a similar beer i had from these guys out of their denver spot called valhalla, which was amazing, so much more dank and sticky than this one, i was kind of hoping this would be more like that, and when i think about them, this one isnt as good, but on its own its quite nice, and that might be a fair comparison. this is mostly bitter from the hops with a little bit of intenser grapefruit to it and less of the oily richness from the hops. the grain has a toasted and sweet middle, a bready density to it, and subtle hints of honey, almonds, and brown sugar. there is a slightly scorched essence here, but not a flaw, and a long linger, more body than expected for its modest alcohol content as well. light orange and pine to finish, a little bit filling as a pint, but more flavorful than most reds in the game. on the edge of being a red ipa.
