a cool new double ipa from these guys, featuring idaho gem hops if i remember correctly, possibly among other varietals, but a cool hop profile on this one regardless, and a dangerously drinkable high test ipa here, the hoppy beers continue to be my favorite from our local boise location. this is almost all the way clear, honey colored and bright in the glass, with an average white head and a strong nose of lime and sweet almost cooked fruits like apricots and melon, although ive never really cooked melon, this has a sort of stewed character from the hops, not grain sugars but somehow a perceived oily sweet from the hops, real different and real agreeable. the flavor is the same as the nose, but adds in a light bitter element on the back end that keeps this real balanced, even without much real grain contribution to flavor. i like the long, dank, fresh hop residuals on the palate at the swallow, a little weed-esque to me, and ever so slightly spicy, a very cool hop complexion here on the whole. smooth and medium body with soft carbonation and a very summery vibe to me, no trace of the alcohol at all. i really liked this, hope to see it stick around in their lineup!
