L: Pours fairly thin, a brownish red with a small white tan head and no lacing, beer is quite a bit lighter than expected.
S: Strong note of bourbon first, with a touch of rubbing alcohol, quite. Bit of molasses, with notes of vanilla, don't get a lot of the oatmeal.
T: Some roasted malt, a touch of oatmeal, bourbon is less apparent than the nose, sweet molasses. Not quite what I expect out of an oatmeal stout.
F: Smooth carbonation and slick but feels a little thin to me.
O: Not bad but not what I expect from an oatmeal stout.

Clear brown colored ale with a small tan colored head.
Smells sweet and strongly of whiskey. Slightly smoky with a strong whiskey scent. Strong vanilla and coconut scents. Whiff of caramel and rum.
Starts out sweet with a strange citrus after taste. Sweet with a whiskey and syrup taste. Kind of it. Sweet whiskey ale.
Mouthfeel is good.
Overall it needs more complexity and less sweetness.

I think the base stout is the problem here. The barrel aging nuances are very nice, but overall it kind of comes off as barrel aged lite. Not bad though.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, bourbon and cognac. Flavor is dark toasted malt, bourbon, cocoa and light molasses. Light bodied with sharp carbonation. This looked and smelled great, but the body is thin and the barrel character somewhat overpowers the malt. The barrel notes are quite good and redeem this overall, the combination of bourbon and wheat whiskey is a pleasant one. One of the lighter bodied oatmeal stouts I've had, but an interesting barrel profile.
