this is solid, not too sweet, and thankfully really low in alcohol, just the right thing to kickstart the day after a big night of barleywine drinking, although i fared a little better than my friend did getting right back on the horse. this may or may not have coffee in it, kind of seems like the malt is doing the work there, but its roasty and warming and it is spiked with cinnamon and vanilla too, although not too much of either, i also swear i get a maple syrup note, but it could be me putting my own breakfast desires onto this beer. its more brown than black, a touch thin looking in the glass, but sporting a patchy airy tan head and nice carbonation. the aroma and flavor show raisin, black coffee, and warming cinnamon, its cozy and wintery even though it isnt big. the vanilla is pretty subtle and all on the finish, plays well with the middle malts in here, and the cinnamon finishes it beautifully, not spicy but sort of baked. hints of dry baking chocolate, light roast coffee, good maple syrup right in the middle, and just a little balancing bitterness against the sweet at the end. drinkable and smooth, light for a stout but i dont mind in this context, really flavorful without being overdone. the cinnamon makes it quite unique. at the boise location on tap, i need to go drink beer in here more often, i leave stoked on their stuff every time...

Fantastic breakfast stout at this low of abv. Light body, though its fairly dark brown/black in the glass. Lots of chocolate and roast to go along with nice vanilla character and some minor spicing...coffee seems apparent...smooth, delicious.
