super sweet but also pretty good in a style im not in love with. they call this a marionberry cheesecake sour, but i guess the base is a strong berliner type, but any real nuance to that element is overrun with fruit, graham cracker, vanilla, lactose, and this cream cheese element, which im not sure why breweries are so into at the moment. this is better than most on a number of levels, but its still diabetic and trend chasing and sort of aggravating, even if i secretly kind of like it. the color is awesome, really crayon flamingo pink to purple, saturation point indeed, not a whole lot of head, but also not mucky and sedimented like so many of these are, so some positives here. the aroma and flavor are very dessert forward. the sourness is super clean, which, no surprise with these guys, they kill it with the kettle souring and always have, light lemon to it, not too much acidity but enough to cut through some of the intense residual sugar, a saving grace for this, even though it remains a small doses thing for my tastes. im not sure i can pick this out as marionberry, like as intense as the fruit is, it could also be blackberry, black raspberry, or even black currant, its bold and delicious, tart and tannic and tangy, but its also somewhat generic, and its true essence may be compromised by all the other flavors, vanilla is forward in this, i like the graham cracker aspect, especially with the malt itself being pretty minimal in the taste, but its also strong, and the lactose is unnecessary and over the top, especially with the cream cheese, my god. that part is a little tangy and fatty and kind of gross as a beer, which i always think, but the fruit part is great, the base sour is solid, at least what i can pull from it, and as a beer to have just a little of, its cool. it is what it says it is, and that in itself is impressive. they could dial back a bit on most of these ingredients and have a better beer, but this is what the kids want these days, and its better than most. fruit heavy.
