Handpulled from a cask @ Free House, Nelson, New Zealand. It was ~11.50 NZD per 425ml pour.
"XPA."
Smooth, soft, creamy, appealing to the palate. Good texture, if a bit warm temperature wise at this particular pub.
Taste isn't complex, but it's balanced. Floral, slightly fruity (dried peel, faint rind bitterness), approachable. Hop profile isn't particularly pungent (I don't see what's experimental about this experimental pale ale unless the experiment is downplaying the key ingredient in the style), malt backbone is all pale malt with nothing too assertive, yeast profile is estery but clean.
It's a nice enough simple handpull cask ale with no off flavours, but no discerning drinker will find it dazzling.
Drinkable and likable albeit simple and shallow for the intended style.
