This beer was a one-off and is no longer produced but may return next year. I bought a sixer of it from the taproom on 3/17/2023. Can stamped "WE WANT BEER! DEC 02 2022"
Commercial description: "We're celebrating Repeal Day with a very special release! Like an old photo dug out of your grandpa's collections, this Pre-Prohibition Lager comes right out of the early 1900s. An old-school American Lager, brewed with 6-Row Barley and Flaked Corn for a smoother flavor without adding body. Lightly hopped to add floral notes with minimal bitterness."
Appearance:
Clear medium gold with fine floaties and a creamy but minimal white head.
Aroma:
Grainy, bready malt and corn, low-to moderate earthy/floral hops, likely Cluster or Crystal
Flavor:
Same as aroma, bitterness was stronger than advertised.
Mouthfeel:
Light-to medium, no astringency or other MF flaws, CO2 nominal
Overall:
Bigger and chewier than any post-prohibition AALs, and some "pre" ones too: heavier on alcohol, damn near a Maibock. A good beer but not quite lawnmower fare.
