An English style brown ale, it is a medium-bodied mahogany beer with a creamy tan head and rich flavor. Malty, mild and not so bitter, this beer is rich in flavor.

On draught at the brewery/restaurant. Nice dark chocolaty brown, very very smooth. A little light on carbonation leads to a slightly falt mouthfeel. Nice flavor without any burnt or nasty buttery flavors. Very easy to drink a few of these. Probably the best in this part of the state.

On tap. Poured a clear, brown color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of coffee, nuts and roasted malt. Good coffee flavor with sweet toasted caramel and subtle bitterness.

Appearance: It has brown body with a light red hue. The head and lace are a creamy almost tan color.
Smell: It has a wood and caramel like aroma that is very sweet.
Taste: The taste has a dry bitter dark chocolate and nut flavor. This is followed some caramel and toffee tones. There is a bit of corniness to it as well
Mouthfeel: Medium body with a mild bite
Overall: Not bad, I would drink it again.

Pours a dark brown with lighter brown along the edges and bottom of the glass. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of roasted malt, sweet malt, and hops. Fits the style of an English Brown Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and thick with an average carbonation level. Tastes of roasted malt, sweet malt, hops, and toffee. Overall, a good blend of flavors and ease of drinkability.

Presentation: 10oz sample pilsener-style glass, filled right to the brim, which means not much head but a persistent thick white ring
Appearance: Medium walnut-brown beer, fairly bright, nice color...would have liked to see what it looked like poured with a good cap
Smell: Soft but vibrant aromas of dry nuts, chocolate, and fruit...almost a bit of malted milk...this is pretty nice
Taste: Quite fruity for an English brown...also hints of chocolate, toasted malt...pretty sweet through the middle but ends just a touch dry and nutty...it's a bit overly sweet for me, but overall pretty tasty
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied
Drinkability: I can see having 2-3 of these
Conclusion: Not the best English brown I've ever had, but a solid stab at the style...if the fruitiness/sweetness were ratcheted down just a bit this could be really good

On tap at the Hermann Brews/Blues festival, a nice offering from a new brewer.
Poured a clear mahogany brown, with a small tan head leaving tiny Brussels lace. Aroma was a malty chocolate and caramel, along with the quaff. Fairly straightforward brew with a sweet start, coffee hint in the middle, then a woody hop to balance and finish 'er off.
A fine drinking brew, a good summer session beverage. I'm a happy camper with my first beer from Prison Brews.
