A - Great looking IPA - clear, golden orange appearance with a long lasting, small, white head. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass.
S - It smelled of pine and citrus fruits with a touch of caramel malt.
T - Good burnt toast maltiness with some great tropical fruit flavors from the spicy hop bite. There was a mild piney flavor, too.
M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a dry finish.
O - This was the best of the Prison Brews on tap at the time of my visit and was certainly worth a $10 growler refill.

Pours a cloudy, golden/copper color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of strong hops and slight sweet malt. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong hops, sweet malt, and finishes with bitter hops.

Presentation: 10oz tasting glass, on tap, filled up, but a fairly tight ivory cap which has decent retention
Appearance: Slightly hazy dark gold beer with low carbonation and a fairly dense ivory cap
Smell: Fresh, SWEET grapefruit and citrus rind up front, touch of sweet caramel in the back...this is quite nice...
Taste: This one is hoppier than it is malty...there are fruity hops up front, medium hop bitterness and nice balancing caramel malt...I'm not sure what hop variety is used, but I'm wondering if it's something I've not had much of before; the character is resiny and full of citrus rind, and while it's bitter, the rind flavors are almost sweet...I know that sounds goofy, but that's the only way I can explain it.
Mouthfeel: On the heavy side of medium bodied
Drinkability: Medium
Conclusion: Definitely a bit different; the aromas are fantastic, but they hint at the somewhat odd candied rind flavors going on here...I like my IPAs a little drier, otherwise this is a pretty nice beer.

Very good IPA from the Prison crew. Sampled many a glass, all pouring a hazy amber with the classic white head.
I knew I'd dig this one from the aroma - full of citrus and pine, west coast style. Quaff was a sharp and crisp grapefruit after a semi-sweet malty start. Just a bit of hop sting on the tongue with the finish. A tasty treat IPA.
Recommend trying this one of ever in the Jefferson City area - I know I'll stop in the next time on the way to the Ozarks.
