Prison Brews 100th batch.
I struggled to decide whether to submit this as an APA, a DIPA, or an American Strong Ale. While this beer is pretty balanced, the taste test says DIPA more than anything else.
Appearance is pale, clear amber, with a small head of off-white foam that dissipates quickly.
Hops comes through in the nose loud and clear. A very pleasant Simcoe aroma is apparent. I may have that all wrong, but this beer smells very much like two recent, all-Simcoe homebrews I've quaffed.
Taste is a great balance between somewhat sweet caramel malts and a nice hop bite. Very clean and seamless. The booze is plenty perceptible for 8%, but I like what it adds to the balance.
Mouthfeel is medium, at most. Not light and fizzy, not thick and chewy.
Very, very easy guzzler. The growler did not last long. And at $10, a very good buy.
