Comes in a standard brown half liter bottle with a fairly busy but unsophisticated red and white label featuring a coat of arms and a few medals. Ingredients include rice. Best before 2/22/04, I opened it on 11/6/03.
Pours a rather attractive clear burgundy, but there is almost no head at all, just a few fizzy bubbles at the top right on the pour, but they disappear in no time. This really downgrades the appearance in my view. The nose is quite nice - caramel malt and a touch of citrus tanginess. The mouth is very carbonated, and medium-bodied, with a hint of sour from the citrus influence. The taste opens with this citrus sweet-sour taste, backed by some nice caramel and malt flavors. There are hops here, but they hide until the liquid is long gone, coming out in the aftertaste to give a bit of bitterness to the sour malt. A pleasant drinking experience, if it weren't for the lack of head.
