It's called Czech Standard on this side of the pond (or Czech Standart if you read the back label) 16.9oz brown bottle. No freshness date.
It pours and light and shiny golden color with a fairly long-lasting medium-sized head. Listed as 4.6%abv on label.
The aroma is mostly of a damp grain bin, with a smell of fresh cut lawn.
The overly sweet malt body has an odd taste of creamed corn and a light flavor of moist white bread.
The hops provide a little lemony citrus bitterness and a slight metallic tang. A hint of a basil-like herb taste lasts throughout.
Can't say I'd recommend it, but it may do in a pinch...

Standard brown half-liter bottle with a plain metallic gold label of words and the brewery's coat of arms. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 12/17/03, I opened it on 12/13/03 - just in time...

Clear deep gold hue under a short-lived, fizzy off-white head that leaves a couple of spots of lace. The nose is sweet with a melon like scent. The mouth is prickly and medium-bodied. The taste opens with this melon-sweet impression from the malt, followed by a decent amount of hops that leave a crisp bitter finish and linger into a quite tasty aftertaste. A great beer by no means, mainly because of that heavy melon smell and taste, but it has some character.
