First of all, Kasey Kidwell in Columbia is a villain for suggesting I buy this beer and deserves your scorn. He sweet talked and cajoled me into purchasing it and the result was one of the worst beer experiences in my life. I only write this to save your palate the hideous experience that is the Bogemian.

Pours a pale pee-lookin' gold, with a spotty, small white head. This is not the beer you're looking for. Move along, move along.

Smells sweet. Real sweet. Syrupy with a menacing, alien liquor-like alcohol sharpness. While you went to parties in high school, your mom lay awake at night and prayed you wouldn't drink crap like this. Sorry, mother...

Ugh. Just... ugh. Tastes like Bud with a shot of simple syrup and a teaspoon of paint thinner. Sickly sweet and grainy, with tons of high alcohols and a harsh, honey-ethanol flavor. Simple and ignorant and boozy, this reminds me of bum-wine. There's only one reason to drink this, and that's to get drunk, fast. Ok, there is a second reason, and that's to pad your reviews on BA. ::hangs head in shame::

Drinkability? What drinkability? Three ounces was too much for me. Bogemian is sugary, alcoholic, unrefined and tastes like it was formulated in a Russian mechanic's bathtub (and may have been.)

There's so much to dislike about this beer, I almost feel guilty for wasting my time on this review. Almost.

Bogemian, I despise thee!

A- Pale golden with two fingers of head that drops to a mild lacing and ring after a couple minutes.

S- Caramel, fruit, and tons of sweetness, maybe golden raisins, dates, sugar. More sweetness than I've ever smelled in a beer.

T- So sugary-sweet it tastes almost like syrup. All nuances are basically lost in the overwhelming sweetness. Tastes like cane sugar water. Some licorice, and a bit of alcohol in the finish, and that's really all I can taste.

M- Smooth, velvety, low carbonation. Good on the mouthfeel.

D- Not super-drinkable, it's simply too sweet. Worth a try, though, if only for the unique experience.

I had this beer chilled at lunch in a 16.9oz bottle poured into an unchilled narrow goblet. (More of a water goblet, really.) The entire bottle didn't fit in the glass. The head started off at somewhere around an inch, but faded to nothing with no lacing before I had a couple of sips. It seemed slightly orange-colored for a lager, though not by much, and was totally clear. Few small bubbles made their way to the top after the initial pour. The beer started off slightly hoppy, but the hops faded into the sweetness of the beer, which was nice at the beginning, however, the sweetness became cloying by the end, despite the fact that it tasted good. I kind of forced myself to finish the full pint. Despite the high alcohol level, it didn't come across as boozy, perhaps due to the sweetness. There seemed to be few flavors in the beer besides the sweetness and the hoppiness.

I'm glad I drank it, but I doubt I would again.

16,9 oz bottle

A - Pale orange color, a few bubbles floating to the surface. Offwhite head fades to a film. Lacing is minimal.

S - Rich darker malt aroma with some funky, sour fruity-ness, like grapes or darker berries followed by alcohol fumes.

T - Biting (hop?) bitterness, sugary almost syrupy sweetness and a sour, funky ending.

M - Consistency is medium to thick, but rather syrupy. Carbonation is medium to minimal.

D - Overall this isn't too bad of a beer. I'm not used to it so it's kind of strange. I guess that's how the Russians do it.
