Appearance - This one poured nearly headless for me but I wont dock points as it is a 10% scotch ale and they have a tendency to do that.It poureda dark brown that is maple syrop colored around the edges! Carbonation seems very strong!.
Aroma - The sweetness on the nose of this one smacks you in the face. I'm getting lightly salted caramel, toffee, brown sugar, syrop, honey, molasses and some light aromas of dark fruits.
Taste - Toffee takes the lead on the sweet side of this flavor profile. Its followed closely but its caramel brethren. Than come brown sugar and molasses, the honey has been kicked out of the show but the rest of the sweet flavors walk down the pink carpet of your tongue in unity smiling for the camera. WOW! the balancing flavors are light but still do their part like the C list stars signing autographs for your taste buds! There are roasted nuts some light leafy hops, This is one of those beers that doesnt play when it comes to taste. It is the A list of scotch ales.
Feel - This beer has a very thick creamy full bodied mouthfeel. There is some alcohol burn in the throat but it is extremely light compared to some of the Corner store 10% beers, This beer is fantastically executed and I totally understand why so many people recommended it.
Overall - This is definitely up there in my top 3 scotch ales ever and that's saying something as I've had some amazing barrel aged wee heavy's and scotch ales of which this one is not. The thing here is the aroma and flavor come together so heavenly balanced for a 10 percent beer and steal the show in an array of sweetness. Wow!

Bottle: Poured a dark copper color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma of sweet honey notes with caramelized malt, nice toffee notes and some light dry fruits notes are also noticeable. Taste is also a good mix of caramelized malt with some nice toffee notes with light dry raisins notes with a sweet finale of honey notes. Body is pretty full with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Superb take on the style and something I would love top have again.

Dark amber/copper in color with a small creamy head. Really nice smell, you get toffee/caramel, honey, sweet malts, black licorice and some alcohol. Really sweet in the mouth too but it's not overpowering. You get a nice honey flavor, as well as lots of caramel, you also taste the malts in this. With a little bit more hops this beer would be even better, it's not bitter enough for my taste, but overall it's really good.

A: Very nice dark brown/red color with a nice creamy off white strong head.
S: It's all about sugars here. The honey is really doing its job right. There are some malt odor coming too. Alcohol sweetness is present too.
EDIT 2010: Strong floral notes.
T: Some sweetness coming from the honey used in this brew. Some molasses, toffee, honey (eventually), caramel. Some plum type of sweetness coming from the alcohol. Then, there are a nice malt taste coming. It all ends up with a nice dry bitterness coming from the hops.
EDIT 2010: Strong Floral taste
M: Mid to high mouthfeel. Very interesting as it is far superior here than most scottish ales I've tried. Carbonation is mid to low.
D: Very easy to drink because of the high sugar levels. But, the high ABV will catch you someday and it'll make you stop.
Excellent beer overall.
