A very dark brown with some red highlights. No head.
Aroma of chocolate and pumpkin.
Chocolate and pumpkin taste, with a hint of cinnamon.
Smooth drinking beer. Always happy to see a pumpkin beer where the spices take a background.

I've had this beer a number of times since its release on October 9, 2013, mostly on tap from the brewery's downtown location. Tonight I am drinking it and reviewing it based on a growler I brought home.
The beer pours pitch black and initially shows no head, but after the pour is complete, a nice finger and a half of head surges up.
The beer's smell is a superb mixture of pumpkin aroma and deep, dark, chocolately malts with minor hints of nutmeg. The aroma is rich and powerful and will linger on the nose long after the initial whiff.
The taste is deeply malty with the pumpkin and chocolate complementing the roasted caramel taste. It's an impressive taste for a pumpkin beer, as it is not heavy on spices and has character much beyond pumpkin.
The beer has a thick, malty and creamy body and only a slight hint of the high alcohol content.
Overall, it's one of my favorite pumpkin beers this year.
