Wilderness
Served at the brewery in an English-style pub glass.
It's bright golden in appearance with a bit of amber hues and cloudiness at the top of the beer and blonde hues towards the base. Light carbonation is visible and the quarter finger thick, pale, creamy head dissipates to sticky lace. 4.1
Piney, spicy hops are most detectable on the nose, although it's got a caramel sweet aroma that is there. It's straightforward but pleasant. 3.9
I'm surprised by the spruce and pine flavors that I didn't sense on the nose. They're prominent and add an herbal quality to the beer, as well as a big does of earthy flavor. The hop flavors are piney, resinous and spicy, while I get a good dose of vanilla and caramel on the malt side. At the finish, fruit emerges. 3.85
There's good drinkability and something thirst-quenching about this beer. It's refreshing. The spruce and pine flavors can feel and taste a bit medicinal, but otherwise I enjoy this brew. I'd say we've got a 3.8
