Bottle purchased in Montreal in June. Pours an oily black with minimal head or carbonation, but a suitably silky mouthfeel. Not certain whether there's a classification for chocolate stout, but not an "American stout" in the typically hopped version of the style.
Aroma of Nesquik with spine of roasted dark and chocolate malts, but chocolate and vanilla essence both in the foreground. Sweet taste is also chocolate-forward, with the beginning elements of caramelized malts quickly overcome by the cocoa and milky chocolate in the finish.
Glad to have tried it and suitable for a dessert beer, but definitely not a session ale or a typical stout.

341mL bottle purchased in Montreal. Pours a dark brown with some dark ruby hues. Very little head with some lacing. The aroma is reminiscent of chocolate milk mix. Hot chocolate as well. The taste is very similar to the aroma. Chocolate milk, sweet chocolate, and toasted malts. A bit thin for the style but it works well enough. Overall, this stout is a bit on the lighter side but it has a good chocolate flavor that doesn't end up being overly sweet.

341mL (12oz?) from La Duchesse D'Aiguillon (Quebec City). 1.99. No apparent bottling info. Served in a Burnt Hickory snifter.
Pours dark, just past cola black with a half finger creamy tan head. Nice sized occasional spots of lace.
Serious sweet milk chocolate smells with a tad faint roast in the background.
Taste is bittersweet cocoa as supposed to the sweet milk chocolate I'd smelled with a bite of roast coffee, earthy grains, dark fruit and just a touch of pine.
Feel is on the lighter side of medium with semi light but prickly carbonation. Chocolate covered pine raisin finish. It may sound strange but that's my impression

Serious sweet milk chocolate smells with a tad faint roast in the background.
Taste is bittersweet cocoa as supposed to the sweet milk chocolate I'd smelled with a bite of roast coffee, earthy grains, dark fruit and just a touch of pine.
Feel is on the lighter side of medium with semi light but prickly carbonation. Chocolate covered pine raisin finish. It may sound strange but that's my impression

On tap at the brewpub. A very sweet concoction, not so drinkable because of it. Chocolate in the smell. Avoidable.Dark with lace, a little head. More of coco powder added.Higher alcohol than necessary for sure, it is hidden by the "spiking" sweetness.

A- Basically identical to the vanilla cafe version. Black pour with a mocha brown head, pretty good size and retention. Fine coat of lace.
S- Again, sugary ut this time more cocoa forward as the name suggests. Still has that caramel Creme brûlée feel, maybe some lactose. Big dessert aroma. A bit oxidized.
T- Cocoa dominated stout with a big sugary sweet flavor. Caramel Creme brûlée notes like the Southern Tier beer. Has a dark cocoa powder feel.
MF- Very highly carbonated and fizzy for such a stout. Foamy overall feel with a roast bitter finish.
Has a bit of the off flavor that I noticed in the Cafe Vanilla version but not as drastic. Still big and sweet with a lactose presence, dessert-like.

Poured a dark brown, almost black with a dark cocoa brown head. Thin film of head retention, with a light collar a some lacing. Prominent in the nose is cocoa powder, milk chocolate, mild coffee grain and a light lactic sourness. Taste has more coffee grains, milk chocolate sweetness with a dark chocolate bitterness. The light sourness suggested in the nose is present here too, might be a product of the roast or something. Mouthfeel is relatively thin with a bit of graininess. Medium carbonation. Really average cocoa/coffee stout, no real complexity or lasting impression left.

Bottle: Poured a dark black color stout with a nice light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of black chocolate notes with medium dry notes and light vanilla touch. Taste is also, as advertised, dominated by light dry black chocolate notes with light lactose notes and some subtle vanilla notes. Body is about average with light creamy texture and good carbonation. Not bad though I couldn’t drink multiple of those in one session.

The color is dark black with a brown head that disappear fast. If the head would stay up, it would be a pretty good looking beer. The aroma is of medium intensity. I get chocolate, cacao only. Its dominated by that. Very little roasted malts in the aroma. The aroma reminds me of a milk chocolate.
Taste is... bummer, first sip I get some metallic notes. Good it disappear on the second sip. Taste is again dominate by cacao. Way too carbonated for a stout, it is not good in the mouth. Thin bodied.
Overall, a medium but decent beer.
