On tap at Ohio Brewing Company/Damon's Grill in downtown Akron last night. Poured into a clean, clear mug glass. Review from notes.
From Brewery: Akron Doppel Alt
Our potent doppel or sticke alt is full bodied, malty amber ale with a dry finish. Served traditionally at the brewpubs in Dusseldorf, Germany during special occasions.
O.G.: 18 Plato, IBU's: 55, ABV: 7.5%
A Looks like a basic amber. One inch head stuck around for a minute or two before dissipating down to only a trace.
S Malt, hops, not bad.
T Good, strong malty taste with some hops. Really enjoyable. The finish, however, is a bit watery. Aftertaste is very short.
M Moderate with alcohol, big tastes. Thin, watery finish.
D Fair with big tastes, alcohol.
Notes: One of my more favorite beers here at Ohio Brewing Company but it is not better than Steel Valley Stout (I know, I know, totally different style but imo they were more successful with that beer).

I have been stoping by, on and off, at Ohio Brewing Company, since just about when it first opened earlier this year. This is a seasonal brew offered by them, beginning a few weeks ago. I stopped by for Oktoberfest last Saturday after my beloved Akron Zips lost to the Ball St. Cardinals at the very last home opener in the Rubber Bowl 41-24.
18 Plato, 55 IBU's and 7.5% ABV
a - pours a dark, reddish brown almost cola in hue; head is a frothy tannish delight with moderate lacing
s - a rich bouquet of finely malted hops, blended with an array of attention grabbing spices (nutmeg possibly?)
t - the sophisticated array of hops clearly shines through and is balanced perfectly by burst of sweet malt, cocoa and arabica
m - simply explodes once it enters your mouth; mildly carbonated with a perfectly suited body, not too light not too heavy
d - this is the best micro I have had on tap, plain and simple; it's a real shame this is a seasonal, because this is one splendid brew; I need to make room in the fridge for my 1st ever growler!!
