A sipper, as much sour stout taste. Good roast, gigantic lasting mocha head on opaque black body. Acidic, but drinkable. Bottle from Brou Haha Gatineau.

A bit too carbonated, but nice toasty notes on both nose and palate, with a decent dryness and fair linger.

Pitch black with a nice bubbly head and lots of lacing. Big whisky smell and alcohol sweetness. Lots of alcohol in the taste too. Really strong for only 7% but overall it's really good.

Serving: Bottle
A:
Pours pitch black, ruby tint as it leaves the bottle. Sports three plus fingers thick tan-beige-khaiki head (sweet layers) drops to a good little film. Good retention; little slithering ring of lace. (4)
S:
Molasses-nut-funk. Nutty with some definitely sour-like funky barnyard aromas right up front, charred sugar cane, over-ripe dark fruits, vanilla. (4)
T:
Rich porter with just the tiniest hint of tartness. Nutty, rusty water, some lime zest, roast malts, drying woody whiskey on the finish. (3.75)
M:
Prickly and a touch thin with a medium body and a lingering dry feeling, which is very slight and pretty unobtrusive. (3.75)
O:
Pretty good beer in general, very interesting.
This is a nearly rich porter that has some pretty strong characteristics. I have always assumed it is aged in Jack Daniel's barrels but I could be wrong. Either way there is a really flat, woody, Tenessee whiskey characteristic too it that kind of fades into the rest as it warms. Read: It has all and more of the booziness of bourbon, but little to none of the sweetness. Just my opinion.
Pours lovely. Not super rich, good competition between the little bit of wild flavor and the JD-tasting woody twinge at the end. As it warms you lose a little of the astringent black-tea whiskey flavor and gain some thick sweetness.
Overall this one is pretty straightforward. I feel like the more subtle flavors in the porter disappear behind the rest and it could definitely have less sharp whiskey-ness (but that's just my preference). It definitely opens up a bit as it warms. Easy drinking, pretty decent. The tartness is a nice subtle touch. (3.75)

Bottle: Poured a dark black color porter with a medium size light brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing notes. Aroma of whiskey notes is quite intense with some woody notes also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by whiskey notes with quite a bit of wood with some roasted malt and some light vanilla notes. Body is maybe tad thinner than I was expecting with good carbonation and light warming alcohol notes. Maybe a bit too much strong on the whiskey notes but very enjoyable nonetheless.
