Sparhawk Golden Ale pours a clear, deep gold body that borders on becoming amber. The creamy white head holds well and leaves thin walls of lace about the glass.
Grassy and floral hops are evident in the nose, backed by a bit of yeastiness and some mild, grainy maltiness.
It's medium-light bodied in the mouth; and smooth with a restrained, fine bubbled carbonation.
The flavor is mostly straight-forward, but quite pleasant, with a bit of yeastiness that gives it some fruitiness, a touch of tartness, and reminds you that you're drinking a "real" beer. The hops are delicately threaded throughout, grassy and lightly floral; and a mild bitterness balances the gently grainy maltiness.
Overall, it's a refreshing and interesting beer that's got enough yeast and hop character to keep you coming back to it while not overwhelming you. It reminds me of a fresh cask-conditioned English pale ale! Very nice!

Poured a medium straw hue with a one finger foamy head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell was light a featured a nice doughy malt aroma. There was a noticable citrusy hop aroma.
The taste was well balanced and refreshing. A nice light grain body that supported well the mild grapefruit hop flavor.
The mouthfeel was light with a dry finish.
Overall a very drinkable ale. A nice three season beer.
