Malt and sugar smell. Very sweet malt taste that is rich and dark. Kind of an unusual Bock, definitely a seasonal offering. Very little carbonation, almost flat. Not one of Franconia's better offerings.

Appearance: Pours a dark reddish brown body with a thick foamy off-white head.
Smell: The aroma is sweet chocolate with a faint fruity scent.
Taste: Malty chocolate with some cherries? Plums? Can't decide but it's mighty tasty.
Mouthfeel: Rich and creamy
Drinkability: Very drinkable.
Tried this one at the Franconia Brewery tour yesterday. Dennis, the brewmaster, says that they are bottling this seasonal beer and it should be available very soon. I'm will definitely be on the lookout for it. (Don't tell Franconia Dunkel but I may have a new favorite bier from this outstanding local brewery)

Draft pint, on-tap at the Gingerman in Dallas. Was looking for a local seasonal.
Beer shows dark brown, with a light brown head. Thin, but long lasting lace, decent foam retention. There is a nice roasted aroma of caramel malt. Slightly fruity as well. The flavor has more of the same caramel sweetness, a bit nutty, hint of chocolate. dark fruit-like finish. The mouthfeel is creamy and a bit slick, easy to drink. A very enjoyable pint.

Nose is softly fruity, malty, with malty sweetness and hints of chocolate. Smells pretty good.
Pours deep ruby, almost black, mild head. Looks pretty good.
Chocolate malt, soft roast, dark bread malt, some crust, grape/apple fruit with soft sweet and sour character, very soft diacetyl. Significant malty richness. Tastes pretty good. Feels pretty good. Pretty good drinkability.
Not bad, a pretty good Bockish beer.

On tap at the Gingerman in Dallas.
Beer pours dark brown with a head that is light tan/beige. The aroma is caramel and toffee, with a little bit of dark fruit as well. The flavor follows the aroma, with caramel malts, roasted malts and a little chocolate flavor. The mouthfeel is medium thickness and is very creamy. A very good beer, the best I have had from Franconia. This is an extremely drinkable, flavorful bock.
