On tap at the Gingerman in Houston.
A: Pours a bright, slightly hazy orange color. A one finger white head forms, and recedes to leave a little lace.
S: A fairly neutral aroma. Husky wheat, light citrus, and some grain. Fairly sweet as well.
T: This has a big husky grain flavor that is a little sweet. Other than that, some off flavors that I don't care for at all. Musky, dank flavors that are closer to wet clothes than anything. Not very enjoyable.
M/D: A lighter body, but a little under carbonated. Thin and watery. I did not want to finish my pint. That is all I have to say about that.
It is a wheat beer for sure, but very odd. I have liked a lot of Franconia's offerings in the past, but those were the traditional German style beers. This is the brewery trying to stretch out, and it does not work. I want Franconia to stick to tradition, that is what they are good at. This is not something I would recommend.

Tried this on tap at Trinity Hall in Allen.
Appearance: A hazy amber with a minimal head
Smell: Mild discrete smell of fresh dough
Taste: Very bready with no discernable hops noted
Mouthfeel: Smooth, silky
Drinkability: Fairly drinkable. The first third was great, the second third of the glass was very good but it finished average.

Nose is sweet and fruity, softly malty. Smells pretty good.
Pours hazy deep straw with mild creamy head. Looks pretty good.
Flavor is sweet and malty, softly fruity (kind of grape-like, or almost grapenut), and softly spicy. Unusual nectar vibe. Tastes a liitle odd, but pretty good I suppose.
If this is what spelt tastes like then neat.

Flavor is sweet and malty, softly fruity (kind of grape-like, or almost grapenut), and softly spicy. Unusual nectar vibe. Tastes a liitle odd, but pretty good I suppose.

It doesn't have much in common with the German wheat beers on this site, but it also isn't an American wheat beer. I settled on American Pale Wheat Ale this since it is a broader category than Hefeweizen, Kolsch or Kristalweizen, but if someone has a better place for it, feel free to move it.**
