Honey Sucker Pilsner is straw to orange in color with aromas of orange, pollen, and honey suckle. This German Style Pilsner is brewed with German malts, American and German bittering hops, and local orange blossom honey. This beer's floral bouquet of aromas, crisp bitterness, fruit and honey flavors, and easy going finish are in line for the season change from Winter to Spring when flowers are blooming and sun is shining.

The contents of a couple of twelve ounce cans ended up in a clear glass liter mug. There's plenty of carbonation which contributes to a nice head which contributes to some nice lacing. The color of the brew is amber and although not fully opaque, neither is it translucent. Pilsners aren't pushy, so the malt/hop/yeast combination has a very slight smell. There is sufficient tastiness to over compensate for the missing aroma. This is well bodied for its style. Of course, the malt brings a bready sweetness also expected from the style. What is very good is the appropriate delivery of hops that provide balance, then leave a light and dry bitterness at the finish. This pilsner is both refreshing and tasty, one of the better American brewed Pils. The inclusion of oranges is barely noticeable.

12oz can into a glass. Canned 6/11/20, so almost 3 months old.
Looks nice in the glass. Pale golden yellow body, small white head dissipates to a ring and faint covering. Faint early lacing.
Nice aroma of honey with good pilsner malt hit........
On tasting, there is an initial fleeting pleasing honey hit, then this beer started to go very wrong for me. Bitter, harsh, faintly chemical.
Mouth medium, finish a lightly sweet wash with a bitter, harsh finish which for some reason reminded me of carpet. A touch metallic too.
Overall, this one didn't agree with my palate at all. Not sure what to do with the rest of the six pack.

Roy Pitz Brewing Co. "Honey Sucker Pils"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle without package coding or freshness dating
$2 @ Weis Market #231, Conshohocken, PA
Look: Slightly hazy deep golden body beneath a finger-thick head of pillowy bright white foam. Plumes of tiny bubbles can be seen rushing upwards, and the head retention is quite good. The lacing is very good as well.
Smell: Grainy, lightly sweet Pilsner malt with floral and delicately grassy hops.
Taste: Exactly as the aroma suggests with some additional sweetness and honey flavor, but also some balancing spicy hoppiness. A stiff bitterness keeps the sweetness in check, and along with the spicy hops allows it to finish dry. Fully flavored.
Feel: Medium bodied with a crisp, fine-bubbled effervescent carbonation.
Overall: A very nicely done pilsner that's given extra character due to added honey. Well balanced and rounded. Quite nice.

I was really pleasantly surprised by the look and taste of this local Chambersburg pilsner. Served in a standard pint glass on draft at Roy Pitz, Honey Sucker deserves its name. It has all the classic qualities of a good German Pilsener with a gently sweet aftertaste, and it rolls off the tongue quite well. I really enjoyed it and went to get another one, but they just ran out! Oh well. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.
