Excellent appearance, very dark, near black with nice light tan head. Aroma has subtle notes of banana and wheat bread. The taste is somewhat hoppy for a dunkelweizen with plenty of roasted malt, hints of banana and fruit but mild hops predominate in the finish. Average for an American craft version, but not close to a Bavarian dunkelweisse. The point of a wheat beer is to showcase the fruity ester products from the yeast and the rich bready flavors, not to give the hops center stage.
