This is a fantastic brown ale! Brown ales are the forgotten style, but I'm remembering how much I love beers like Sam Smith's Nutbrown Ale. New English's take is also fantastic, beautiful color and flavor, drinking this makes my mind drift back to drinking brown ale in The Eagle in Cambridge UK, where Watson and Crick announced that they'd solved the structure of DNA and were able to understand the molecular basis of heredity.

This brown ale pours a completely opaque, murky, dark brown color with a somewhat small white head. Visually this looks like my type of brown ale. The scent is sweet and malty, of molasses and caramel. The taste confirms the scent, but also balances the sweetness with somewhat bitter flavors of toasted bread and dark chocolate flavor. If anything these flavors are actually a little much, but really not too bad. The body, like the appearance would suggest, is medium, but on the heavier side of that qualifier. This is really a pretty good, fairly complex brown ale. The only thing that keeps it from being excellent is that it’s a little too bitter.

A good nut brown, a little bitter, slightly alcoholic finish, nice mouth feel.

An average head that has rather large bubble size and virtually no lacing. Big barley nose and very malty on the tongue. A very slight bitter aftertaste that cleans the palette from the slightly sweet smokiness of the brew.
I'm a fan. :-) Now I've got to get my lazy butt down to that brewery. I'm gonna need a bigger bucket for this list.

Smell and look are great. Taste is pretty good. I prefer the alesmith nut ale over this but this is still pretty good and refreshing
