Standard brown half-liter bottle with a plain gold and black label. Purity law applies. Bottled on 5/26/03, I opened it on 9/27/03.
Very nice deep burgundy hue, but almost no head - just a bit of tan foam that disappeared very quickly. There's a bit of collar, but no lace. The nose is mainly caramel malt, with a touch of grassy hops. The mouth is medium-bodied and a bit too carbonated. The taste is a good combination of caramel malt and grassy, metallic hoppy bitterness. The hops take over in the finish, but the aftertaste resumes the balance. I like the Chuvash hops, and appreciate that Chuvash brewers aren't afraid to use them. Good stuff.
