Two inches of frothy foam has the color of taupe and leaves a coating of lacing on a Spaten dimpled mug. The head is long lasting over a copper (SRM 13-15) beer with light cloudiness.
The aroma is as expected, with a toasted caramel malt that becomes muddy as it warms. Light sweetness carries throughout.
Bitterness is light and balanced against the sweetness. The flavor is all toasted malt. The finish is modest and lingering.
A light body and coarse nylon texture. Alcohol is as expected, while carbonation is fizzy.
This is an easy-drinking and relaxed beer. I imagine it would work well when hanging out with friends or winding down after work.

Pours a dark amber. Mild bready aroma. Average Oktoberfest. Medium malt body with some bitterness. Tastes a little thin. I expected better.

This one pours a slightly dark amber, with a big fluffy head, and a good bit of lacing.
This smells surprisingly and nicely dry, with musty and spicy hops, and a nice dark breadiness.
This has a very nice dryness to it. There's a very slight hop character, it's a bit spicy but also a little musty, which is disappointing. The malt character is rich and nice, a crusty breadiness, with very slight caramel. There's very little overt sweetness, which is exactly what I want with this style.
This is medium bodied, and fairly crisp, with a good level of carbonation.
War Horse has gotten way, way better since opening their own brewery. It's practically night and day. This isn't 100% perfect, but it's one of the better local versions of the style.
