This beer is lovely and strong on its own. But the secret power is in "together". With its partner beer, it creates something greater than the sum of its parts. Even more beautiful, maybe, is in the act of blending. 50/50? 75/25? Take a sip of one, top it off with the other? Make up whatever suits you. Odds are, the exact blend you have created has never been made before. Take a moment to ponder that one. In the history of time, no one has ever had the beer you are holding. The same goes for blending lives, loves, friendships, and ideas. That's the real beauty of blending, sharing yourself, being open to taking in partts of someone else to create something even greater. Do not spare the world of your blends. Enjoy your art.

This beer is packaged with an intriguing concept. It is sold as a mixed four-pack with "Mine". The stated intention is for "Yours" and "Mine" to be blended together. Presumably in equal proportion. "Mine" is a Wild Ale. What follows is a review of each on its own merit, and then as a 50% blend.

Look:
Yours - is clear, very dark brown (SRM 31-33) with milk chocolate
highlights. The head is thin, fine, and beige. Spotty lace is left
on the Pretentious Beer Glass Co. pint glass, after the head
quickly becomes a ring.
Blended (4) - is almost clear dark cola. Again, no head, while the film
is markedly thinner and less clinging to the glass.

Smell:
Yours - opens with sweet/bittersweet chocolate and rich fudge.
Light roasted malt gives way to blackberries.
Blended (3.5) - the berries are softened, with light sourness added.
Chocolate and malt dominate the background.

Taste:
Yours - Bitterness is modest, while sweetness is mild, effectively
overwhelmed at first. Chocolate fudge is contrasted with the
roasted malt, vs. the compliment from the aroma. The finish
is long and building, with roast at the core being mitigated by
berries at it warms.
Blended (3.25) - added sourness while bitterness is diminished a little.
The finish takes-on a medicinal cherry flavor which strengthens
with warmth.

Feel:
Yours - has a medium body and silky texture. Alcohol is as expected,
as is the light fizzy carbonation.
Blended (3.75) - brings on a medium body and slick, silky texture.
Carbonation is modest, and alcohol is as expected.

Overall Impression:
Yours - is a decent Stout, and more dessert oriented than savory.
Still by no means a Dessert Beer.
Blended (3.75) - is also good, and a fun experiment. However there
was no special transformation as hoped, or frankly as advertised.

Blended total score (3.5 - B-).

As an aside, I played around with different proportions, and found the higher ratio of Stout to be more to my personal liking, than the straight "Yours" or the 50% blend.

This beer is meant to be mixed with another. I hope the combination is better that this one by itself. Pours dark. No head. Not much flavor. Malt finish. Very flat. Not a good choice.

Nearly black body with a big, creamy head; a few minor splotches of foam dot the glass inside. Very nice aroma comprised of roasted grains and baker's chocolate. Rich milk chocolate and cocoa flavors; vanilla; sweet yet nicely offset with a balanced bitterness. Heavy body; smooth and velvety on the palate.

This is one of two beers produced by War Horse (the other is 'Mine' - a raspberry sour) that were made to be blended together. As a stand-alone chocolate stout, this one is pretty tasty. Rich and creamy throughout, delivering a most satisfying taste experience.
