Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can and pouring into a snifter. I picked up the can at the brewery in July 2024. Can was on a shelf in middle of the room, not in a refrigerator.
Canned on date of 9-12-2023. SHould be okay with the bigger ABV.
The beer pours dark black coffee color with minimal creamy tan head of about .5 cm. This foam fades to the thinnest edge layer soon after the pour. very limited lattice on swirls or sips.
Aroma is dark chocolate and roasted malt with a good dose of spicy nutmeg and cinnamon notes. Smells like a spicy imperial stout. Not noticing any actual pumpkin notes on the nose.
First sip reveals a medium body with soft texture and very fine and tingly carbonation.
Flavor is similar to the nose with some chocolate and roasted malt notes. Again fairly spice dominant, I get nutmeg and cinnamon up front, and some cloves linger after each swallow. Never any hop character on this one and the ABV is totally hidden throughout as well.
This beer is almost exactly what I expected it to be, malts, spices and not a lot of hops.
good enough, but cold be a little more robust body in my opinion.
