Pours a clean copper, big long lasting head. Aroma is sweet and sugary. The flavor is very sweet sugary and grapefruit essence. Good fizzy feel. Overall very sweet and fuzzy

Potosi Brewing Co. "Rosa Stiefel"
16 fl. oz. can coded "2690 08:48"
Notes via stream of consciousness: Pink Boots? Does this have something to do with the Pink Boots ho blend? Ah, yes, it's the Pink Boots Society. A portion of every sale goes to their scholarship program. Cool. So is Potosi a German name? Nope, I looked it up. It's an old brewery that was revived; they must have just used German for the name because it's a hefeweizen. OK, let's see... based just on the pour it seems a little thin, and the head that rose up dies back down, which could be because of additives. The label reads "malt beverage with natural flavors" so that could be it, but maybe not. It's a hazy golden orange in color without any head on it. I can see plenty of bubbles rising quickly so it's got some carbonation to it. The aroma smells like pink grapefruit. There's some maltiness there as well but I'm not getting any yeast character. On to the taste... well I definitely get the grapefruit part, and a little bit of wheaty malt, but it's really more like a radler than a hefeweizen. I think there may be some banana and spiciness from Bavarian yeast but it's hard to tell with all of the grapefruit flavoring. It's sweetish but also a little tart. It remains balanced but it's not like a beer in my opinion. I wonder if there are even any hops in here. It's odd. It kind of sticks around in the mouth. I wonder if the flavoring has an artifical sweetener in it because it's kind of like that. In the mouth it's light-medium in body and crisp. As it warms I'm getting the banana and phenols from the yeast, and that's in both the aroma and flavor. The flavor is OK but the aroma is getting a little weird as the pink grapefruit combines with the banana and plastic phenols. As a pink grapefruit malternative it's not bad but calling it a hefeweizen was a mistake as it's certainly not. Juding it to style it's a disaster, and to be honest, other than just as something to drink on a hot day it's really not that good either. I mean, let's face it, when have you ever poured a beer and the head disappears immediately and leaves no lacing? That's not the sign of a well made beer. Well, this isn't really even a beer, it's a "malt beverage" but I can think of a whole lot of other malt beverages that are better than this. I'm sorry I'm not with the crowd on this one but I have to give it two thumbs down.

A very flavorful Hefeweizen that still retains it's base beer flavors of banana and clove with wheat base mixed with fresh grapefruit juice flavors of tart and sharp edge. Very tasty it doesn't have any artificial edge and I could see having multiples. Quite an exceptional fruit based brew!

"Rosa Stiefel" is German for Pink Boots.
Rosa Stiefel Grapefruit Hefeweizen is a collaboration with the Pink Boots Society and Potosi Brewing of Potosi, Wisconsin. $2.00 Per Case goes towards the Pink Boots Society’s Scholarship Program to assist, inspire, and encourage women beer professionals through education. The timing seemed too right to pass up.
Aroma is strongly dominated by grapefruit. I can detect more behind the grapefruit, but the grapefruit swamps any hope of parsing out anything else. Not a particularly good start.
Golden yellow hazy body, heavily carbonated topped with a tall, white, thick head that recedes fairly quickly leaving no laving.
The taste is more varied than the aroma. The grapefruit is there, but more in a peer-level role, allowing the typical banana and spiciness to also assert themselves a bit. The result is a wonderfully bright, crisp, and complex beer. The beer clearly identifies what it is, so I'm not rating this one to style. And, on a "I like it" scale, this one hits the spot. The smooth banana dances nicely with the crisp grapefruit in the mouth, with just a touch of spice.
The body is moderate, with some crispness from the carbonation.
Overall, an excellent summer beer. If you are looking for a typical hefe, this obviously is not that. And, the aroma had me a bit apprehensive that this was too over the top on the grapefruit. But, it is not. It is extremely well done. If any of you BAs from WI or MN see this one around, I recommend you grab a 4 pack (or two).

A: The beer is hazy and a bit pale yellow in color with a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger white head that died down, leaving a narrow collar around the edge.
S: Moderate aromas of bananas from the yeast are present in the nose along with hints of grapefruit.
T: The taste follows the smell but has a bit stronger flavors of grapefruit.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I liked how first and foremost this beer smelled and tasted like a hefeweizen with the aromas and flavors of bananas from the yeast. The addition of grapefruit complemented both of the smell and taste.

16oz can. Stamped on can bottom is '0761 10:13'.
Slightly cloudy, pale gold colored body. One finger of white head, which sticks around as a cap. Leaves big rings of lacing.
Aroma is grapefruit, and in the background is hefe notes of pencil eraser and spice.
Taste is quite sweet with a grapefruit note. Hidden deep within there is some wheat and spice notes.
Fuller mouth feel. Very good carbonation.
It's like a Radler beer, but not quite as effervescent. Very refreshing and made for hot weather refreshment.

16oz can from Homebrewstuff. Bright, pale golden, small creamy head, lively carbonation. Aroma features a nice blend of weizen and grapefruit. Taste leans a bit more on the citrus, but backed by lovely bready and banana notes. This is really well done. Good summer time quaff.
