32oz crowler, fresh until 1.1.2019, poured into a Corridor "Bicycle" pint glass.
The beer pours a dark copper and amber color, fairly clear with a light cloudiness and a foamy off white head that has moderate retention and yields small patches of sticky lacing. The aroma is nice, lots of amber and caramel malts, sticky and sweet with a bit of nougat and brown sugar with gentle green and earthy hops, piney and bitter with a touch of citrus peel. The flavors echo the nose, strong and assertive amber grains, caramel, brown sugar and nougat, a great backbone for the bitterness, piney, citrusy, green and earthy hops cleanse the palate. The mouthfeel is good, lively and vibrant medium body, coats well and finishes with a dry bite.
Verdict: A very nice English Bitter from Holy Mackerel. It's clean, balanced, presented well and very expressive. Makes for a great session beer.
