I've been looking for Chuvash beers ever since I visited Chuvashiya almost three years ago (see my beer article on the trip) - finally found one in Moscow's largest discount grocery store. Tall brown half-liter bottle with a short neck with a green, gold and white label featuring a coat of arms above the name. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 9/15/06, I opened it on 5/7/06.
Pours a clear slightly-lighter-than-gold hue under a 1.5 finger white head that fades quickly but with a lot of contour, leaving some good lace strings. Mild but pleasant spicey floral hops nose. The mouth is light and well-carbonated. The taste has an interesting floral edge to it, minimizing the presence of sweet malt, and emphasizing carnation and mint. There is practically no aftertaste here at all. It's clean and pleasant, if not as striking as some of the other products from this brewery.
