Pours a clouded hazelnut color with a spongy, beige head.
Smells of roasted nuts, toffee, whole grain bread and a note of dried straw.
Has a lively, soft carbonation, representing a light bodied, perfectly balanced and refreshing beer in a very nice way.
Tastes of hazelnuts, bakers chocolate, toffee with a roasty edge and whole grain bread. Turns sweeter after the swallow with caramel, which gets toned down in the finish by an interplay of dried herbs, earth and a mineralic quality.
Great Alt, very tasty - nutty and toasty with an herbal edge.

An altbier brewed in Koln? Okay...
Has a medium body and an Amber malt/Caramel one-two punch. Simply constructed with a rough balance, but nevertheless enjoyable for what it is.
Hellers would do well to stick to Kolsch and wiess. Let's leave altbiere to the competent cats in Dusseldorf.
