This is the only beer that the brewery have bottled as yet. Best Bitter is also, along with all their other beers, Cask normally.
Brown 500ml bottle, best before April 2009, drank June 2008. I was having a Shropshire Beer evening and this came to the table first.
Poured into an 'Old Speckled Hen' vase type pint glass. Light gold in colour with a small white head, little carbonisation bubbles climbed through the beer, which was crystal clear, making it look more like a lager than a UK Bitter.
Sweet peas and hops, as well as some yeast esters gave the beer a strange but pleasant aroma.
The taste was drier than the smell had indicated, refreshing and with that bitter twang only English Bitters seem to possess without trying.
This is a fine beer and a great addition to the already impressive selection of small breweries in Shropshire and their beers.
I prefer my English Bitter to be more dark (a true amber colour) and to keep a good head. This beer didn't meet those preferences, but it is non-the-less a very good Bitter.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
