Picked up in a gas station near Vlore, on the coast of southern Albania. The 33cl green bottle sports a gold, green and white label featuring the double headed eagle above the name. The ingredient list is in Albanian, but looks a lot like purity law ingredients. Best before 2/24/09, I opened it on 5/25/08.
Pours a clear gold under a one finger off white head that fades very quickly to film and collar. Strong nose of bready grain and slightly metallic hops. Mouth is light and prickly. Smooth and malty taste, slightly sweet in the opening, followed by a good hoppy bitterness. There is a slight metallic note, but it is very well submerged in the espresso bitterness, which itself is kept in check by the sweet malt. The aftertaste is a dry ache, asking for another sip. Good product.
